In existing Handsfree solutions for motorcycles, a boom microphone is often positioned right in front of the rider's mouth to allow the speech signals to be picked up. This makes the solution fairly unpleasant to use. Even then, when travelling on the road and especially at high speeds, the noise generated by the engine of the bike, surrounding vehicles, wind noise, etc. make speech barely audible. Even if noise suppression techniques are implemented, the noise may not be fullly suppressed and the speech quality is also greatly compromised.

In BITwave, we have developed a Bluetooth handsfree kit solution that enables bikers to receive and answer calls when they are riding a bike. This solution is fully embedded within the motorcycle helmet, including the microphones. With our leading edge wear array and noise suppression technology, all environment noise is suppressed and only crystal clear speech is transmitted to other party.

In existing Handsfree carkit solutions, only one party is often allowed to talk at each time (half-duplex communication) to eliminate accoustic echoes. Although there are now more solutions that allows both parties to talk at the same time (full-duplex communication), there are still some compromise in terms of double talk quality. Also, when using the handsfree carkit in noisy environments (e.g. engine noise, car audio, wind noise, etc), the speech is often barely audible if noise suppression techniques are not implemented. If noise suppression techniques are implemented, the speech quality is usually greatly compromised.
